Proposed Construction Of Apartments On Erven 57, 58 And 284 Clifton
The proposed project entails the consolidation of erven 57, 58 and 284 Clifton for the development of a 6-storey, 13 level block of 14 apartments comprising of 3 parking basements terraced up the slope of the site. The erven are situated on the eastern side of Victoria Road, to the south of Bishop Steps in Clifton. There is a single dwelling house on each of the erven that are to be demolished to enable the redevelopment of the property with a block of residential units. The impacts associated with the proposed development are described and assessed in the Draft and Final Basic Assessment Report (BAR).
Current Project Phase
The Final Basic Assessment Report, for the Proposed Construction of apartments on erven 57, 58 and 284, Clifton was been submitted to the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning(D:EA&DP) on the 18 December 2008. DEA&DP issued the Environmental Authorisation EA) for the proposed development on the 29 January 2010 and all registered interested and affected parties (I&APs) were informed of this decision on the 1 January 2010.
Subsequent to informing all registered Interested and Affected Parties (I&APS) of the issuing of the EA a discrepancy was picked up in the description of the project which was used in the EA as compared with the application. An Application for Amendment to the EA was submitted to DEA&DP, who subsequently requested that a public participation process be conducted.
All registered I&AP are therefore invited to review and comment on the Application for Amendment to the EA. The comment period will run from the 12 July to the 12 August for a period of 30 days as requested by DEA&DP
