Development of Floating Liquified Natural Gas Facility, Mossel Bay
PetroSA is investigating the option of establishing an liquefied natural gas (LNG) offloading facility in the vicinity of Mossel Bay, for the importation of LNG to supply the gas-to-liquids refinery in Mossel Bay. The offloading facility would include, inter alia, two storage regasification vessels, two submerged turret loading buoys, anchor system for the buoys, pipeline connections and support vessels.
PetroSA appointed a team lead by Ninham Shand Consulting Services (now called Aurecon) to undertake the requisite Environmental Impact Assessment process, in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (No. 107 of 1998). The EIA process commenced with initial public engagement and authority consultation in September 2008.
