Garden Route Casino-Application to Amend Environmental Authorisations to allow for proposed upgrade
The Garden Route Casino proposes an upgrade of its facility to keep abreast with latest trends in the gaming industry and remain economically sustainable. The proposed upgrade components include a restaurant extension, the refurbishment of the entrance, a multipurpose function venue, and with this, associated additional parking areas, admin/security facilities and an additional emergency standby generator. These components will be implemented in a piecemeal, phased approach as determined by demand and market forces.
The process for an Application for Amendment of Environmental Authorisations is being followed, as opposed to a Basic Environmental Assessment or Scoping & Full Environmental Impact Assessment, as the proposed upgrade activities do not differ in nature from those originally authorized by the DEA&DP and do not trigger any listed activities in terms of the regulations published under the National Environmental Management Act (Act No 107 of 1998), as amended.
